Supporting Improvements & Investments in the Fire & Emergencies Department
Emergency services such as the fire department need to be examined to prepare for the population growth. Community safety issues impact our daily lives. A key priority in the upcoming 2025 budget deliberations will be implementing the recommendations of the report on the Fire Department which means hiring more full-time staff.
The population of East Gwillimbury is now 41,000 (not the outdated 26,000 that it currently states on the road signs). Working with York Region, the signs will be updated later this Fall to reflect the significant growth that has taken place and continues to take place. We need to invest in the required infrastructure needed to protect residents AND protect those serve our community on the front lines. This situation needs urgent attention to align with our growing population.
