Updates from Susan

  • Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful Thanksgiving!

As we move into the fall season, I encourage you to take a few moments to share your input on the 2025 Town budget: www.eastgwillimbury.ca/Budget

  • Dear Neighbour,

Its back to school time! My favourite time of year with the excitement of new beginnings.

It was a busy summer! I recently returned from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference with Team EG, meeting with Provincial Ministers to advocate for priorities that impact residents during a time of growth. Highlights include conversations with:

    • Minister Sylvia Jones (Ministry of Health) to advocate for opportunities for health infrastructure to bring delivery of care directly to the community

    • Solicitor General Michael Kerzner to advocate for improved safety equipment that is toxin-free on behalf of EG’s firefighters

    • Minister Piccini (Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development) to advocate for opportunities to expand public programs and services to support residents

    • Parliamentary Assistant Amarjot Sandhu (Ministry of Infrastructure) to advocate for our critical infrastructure including funding for bridge replacement projects in EG

Its important to collaborate with all levels of government to advance the needs of taxpayers in our municipality. I want to extend a thank you for the efforts of the entire EG Team on our successful participation at AMO. Engaging in conversations with other municipal councillors from across Ontario leads to positive initiatives and outcomes here at home. Representing you at this conference is another way of spreading the word of our incredible municipality which we are so fortunate to live in. Its my job to work hard to make a difference, now, and in the future for EG.

My summer was filled with a colourful variety of events and activities. I’m always delighted to support local businesses by shopping at the Farmer’s Market, celebrating entrepreneurs at their store openings, and participating in charitable fundraisers, serving you. Please enjoy the refreshed photos I’ve uploaded that capture some of these special moments with residents.

Wishing everyone a healthy, happy Fall at work and school!

    Carpe Diem! Seize the day!

    ~Susan

    • Improving communication through newsletters and coffee time get-togethers

    • Accelerating the MA Revitalization Project

    • Implementing automated speed camera pilot program

    • Working with Town staff to update procedural Bylaws

    • Promoting new business openings and economic development

    • Volunteering with North Union Community Group

    • Supporting local artists, charitable and cultural groups

    • Reviewing potential improvements in the community through participation in the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference

I’m grateful to represent our caring community and want to express my appreciation for residents who look out for one another, whether its lending a helping hand at the local food bank, raking leaves for seniors, or volunteering on a committee that supports our Town. Its a privilege to serve you. Your contributions are valued. Thank you!

  • Dear Neighbour,

I love Mount Albert!  It’s a great place to live, work and raise a family.  I choose to live here because of our Town’s strong, positive community spirit.

My goal as your Ward 3 Councillor is to make Mount Albert and East Gwillimbury an even better community.

As an engaged and experienced leader, I will help shape our future growth in a smart, responsible way that preserves our quality of life for future generations. We are at a crossroads today between an increasing population versus Mount Albert’s small-town feel.

We need to ask the tough questions about development and improving services for both new and long-term residents.  An injection of fresh ideas will inspire our community to work together to address these challenges strategically.  An energetic leader encourages participation from all and is a positive force in the community bringing out the best in others.

I believe in value for the taxpayer dollar. I am committed to ensuring the highest standards of accountability and professionalism, providing effective communication between you and our Town government. As your Ward 3 Councillor, I will champion efficient responses to your issues and concerns.

    Let’s go forward together!
